Frequently Asked Questions
-
Galvanic electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal that uses a small electric current, delivered through a thin probe into the hair follicle. This process triggers a chemical reaction within the follicle.
This reaction produces sodium hydroxide, which targets and destroys the stem cells responsible for hair growth. As a result, the hair is effectively removed, preventing any regrowth.
-
Yes, electrolysis offers a permanent solution for hair removal by directly targeting and eliminating the growth centre of each hair. It is the only method for permanent hair removal that has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This technique is not only highly effective but also delivers lasting results for all skin tones, hair colours, and types.

Everyone feels pain differently and different areas of the body are more sensitive than others. You may feel discomfort or a heat sensation.
-
Electrolysis is a safe treatment with minimal reactions. Reactions sometimes occur at the site where the probe has entered the hair follicle, or where the electrode pad has been placed on the body. The skin may be slightly sensitive, swollen or red. These symptoms usually dissipate within 24 hours.
Bruising – occurs when a probe hits a capillary wall, this can happen if the skin is vascular, or the hair follicle is fragile. Apply Arnica ointment on the bruise to support healing.
Scabbing- Small scabs can form at the treatment site and are a normal part of the skins healing process. It is crucial to not to pick or remove the scabs as this may cause infection, result in slow healing, or cause scarring.
Once scabs are healed it’s important to keep the skin healthy with good skin care regime that includes regular cleansing, moisturising, exfoliation and daily sun protection. As water conducts electricity a well hydrated skin will heal faster and repair itself beautifully.
-
For optimum results please follow our after-care advice; cleaning the treatment area with witch hazel and applying Melfol Calm Balm to support the skins recovery. Do not moisturise the area during the scabbing stage.
